OECD reports prepared by his team include: An Uphill Battle; Dare to Share:
Each organization has 5 basic elements: Depending on the needs of the organization these elements can become larger or smaller, thus determining the structure of the organization.
In order to learn more about the different types of structures we were divided into groups to focus on each specific type and what kind of organizations can benefit from utilizing that particular set up.
During module 3, we also were given a presentation workshop, where we were able to get individualized feedback on our presenting style and areas in which we can improve. I found this workshop very helpful as it was a good reminder to me of certain habits that I have struggled with for nearly my entire life speaking to fast and not being solidly grounded when speaking.
By bringing these areas to my attention as well as for Gitte to be aware of the areas I would like to improve I feel I will be able to concentrate more on them and hopefully correct them for future presentations.
In module 3, we had classes in Micro-economics as well. Here we focused on the concept of demand, and the determinants of demand. If any of these change, this will cause the demand curve to shift.
Whereas a change in price will only cause movement along the demand curve. We also learned about the law of diminishing returns which means that there is a point in which each extra unit of the variable factor will produce less extra output than the previous unit.
Reflections While I found the information in this module clear and easy to understand once it was presented, I realized that until now I have only really thought about organizations within a smaller scope.
Being aware of the macro environmental effects was eye opening for me and I can see how this is incredibly important for someone working in marketing to be aware of things beyond their own industry.
It also made me realize how important it is to keep up with world news and follow trends in all types of industries as they may come into play in future projects and jobs. I also had a personal conflict with a member of my assigned group, which led me to removing myself from that situation and continuing the project alone.
While this situation was unfortunate and far from ideal, I do feel that I learned more about all of the aspects of this module because of it, however it was difficult to not have teammates to discuss things with. Luckily, I have some great classmates who allowed me to voice ideas to them and get some feedback from them as well.
